II. Early life

Tsung-Che Cheng was born on January 1, 1980 in Taipei, Taiwan. He grew up in a family of engineers and scientists. His father is a professor of electrical engineering at National Taiwan University, and his mother is a research scientist at the National Health Research Institute.

Cheng showed an early interest in mathematics and science. He excelled in school and was admitted to the National Taiwan University, where he studied electrical engineering.

After graduating from college, Cheng worked as a software engineer for a few years. He then decided to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science at Stanford University.

Education

Tsung-Che Cheng received his B.S. degree in Computer Science from National Taiwan University in 1985, and his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Stanford University in 1991.

Tsung-Che Cheng started his career as a software engineer at Google in 2005. He worked on various projects, including the Google Search engine and the Google Maps platform. In 2010, he co-founded the company Parse, which was acquired by Facebook in 2013. After leaving Facebook, Cheng co-founded the company Lattice, which was acquired by Google in 2018. He is currently a Distinguished Scientist at Google, where he leads the Google Brain Robotics team.
